FINALS' WEEKEND

17 club knock-out tournaments came to a conclusion over 2 days at the weekend.  This involved 27 different club members competing of which 18 different players became champions.

Congratulations to all the winners, details of which can be seen by clicking here along with lots of photos that can be seen by clicking here.

These things do not run so smoothly without the efforts of many people so thanks go to:

  • Pat, Keith, and Debbie for keeping us fed and watered throughout
  • Jane for the above but even more so for the excellent buffet provided after the last games held on Sunday
  • The green's team for providing a great p[laying surface under difficult conditions
  • The markers for the singles finals - especially those who got rather wet on Sunday afternoon
  • Everyone who helped set out the rinks and put away afterwards
  • Those who came and supported the players even if they were not directly involved and the weather not being perfect.
  • But most of all to ROWAN who organised this weekend to perfection with lots of 'thinking on the spot' to keep the schedule moving and meaning we avoided the worst of the weather later on Sunday and resulting in everyone having a great time

It is events like this that highlight what a great club we have at Southport and it is all those members who contributed this weekend that made it possible.

THANKS !!!!!

WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE

We are a friendly club and encourage new bowlers to come and give the game a try. Bowls is a sociable game, a healthy outdoor sport and above all it’s for ALL ages

So, if you are young or not so young, experienced or a beginner, and you would like to give it a try, do come down to our Club just off the Promenade in Kings Gardens, and you will be made very welcome.

Southport Bowling Club offers:-

  1. Free coaching by qualified instructors
  2. The loan of equipment, avoiding the need to incur any expense until you are sure the game is for you

Southport Bowling Club is the only Flat Green Bowling Club in the Southport and Liverpool area. Established in 1937 our two bowling greens are located at the south end of the Marine Lake in Kings Gardens just off the Promenade. There is a large clubroom with adjacent changing and locker facilities.

We have a reputation for being a very friendly sociable club and new members are made very welcome. For the new bowler we offer free taster sessions and free coaching plus the loan of suitably sized bowls. The only proviso, you must wear footwear with smooth soles and no heels.

Our playing season begins in April and runs through the summer months to the middle of September. Club roll ups are held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. These games are a relaxed and easy way to learn, improve and play bowls.

Social Bowling may also take place at weekends and in the week when the greens are available and not in use for organised competitions.

For those players wishing to play in a more competitive arena the club enters teams, and individual players enter both National and County competitions. Various Club Leagues run on weekdays for members to enjoy a competitive game in addition to Club Competitions.  A number of social events take place throughout the year, Bowl and Dine, Quiz nights, and Bingo. Special themed events take place throughout the summer and also the winter months

We open our second Green to members of the public, with a Green Fee payable.
